The Fr. Paul Mather School for Ministry will encourage both spiritual growth and outreach through the ministry of education.

Spiritual growth will be encouraged by providing tools intended to strengthen and enrich the ministry of a congregation, its individual members, leaders, and clergy. The vision that drives this focus is what Bishop Mark calls “a seminary for congregations.” Our plan is to provide educational offerings that include Christian Education and Churchmanship. This will include Biblical and theological studies as well as workshops for vestries, wardens, treasurers, lay ministers, altar guilds, church musicians, persons preparing for ordination, and clergy.

Outreach will be encouraged by providing education that is ministry. We plan to offer courses that work toward social justice, including classes on basic life skills, budgeting, stretching the food dollar and cooking healthy meals, debt reduction, and resisting the consumer culture.

We may not offer all of these courses directly. Our tag line, “A Network for Learning,” highlights our intention to be as entrepreneurial as possible. Where something is already available, we will find ways to connect those who need the particular offering. If the Church needs something that is not available, we will work toward providing it.
